Count Almaviva, in love with Rosina, is ready to do anything to seduce her. As she is jealously guarded by her old guardian who dreams of marrying her, Almaviva calls on his former valet, the cheerful barber Figaro, to play matchmaker and help him conquer her.
Considered the apogee of Italian opera buffa, The Barber of Seville is a work of genius which conveys all the insolence of the Beaumarchais play from which it is inspired. After singing a powerful Carmen in January 2024, the flamboyant mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina shines as Rosina for the season’s final broadcast. This opera in two acts is presented in Italian with French subtitles.
