Anna Kalman, a famous actress, rushes back to London from Majorca, surprising her sister Margaret and brother-in-law Alfred. On her return, she falls under the spell of Philip Adams, a senior NATO official from San Francisco. Although attracted to Anna, Philip pretends to be married to avoid commitment. A series of misunderstandings and lies ensue as the two protagonists navigate the murky waters of love and deception.
