Orlando, Sally Potter, 1992
In this film, based on the novel of the same name by Virginia Woolf, the leading character, Orlando, has practically not aged in four hundred years: from Elizabethan England to the twentieth century. Orlando changes sex and explores various forms of love, initially falling in love with a young Russian woman, then the Archduke Harry and Shelmerdine. The storyline ends in the early 1990s, stopping in the period the film was made. The narration is interspersed with voice-over comments and humorous asides from the main actress, contributing to the film’s light-hearted atmosphere.
