In the summer of 1694 in England, Mrs. Herbert asks Mr. Neville, a renowned landscape painter, to make twelve drawings of the gardens at her husband’s estate. In return, she agrees to pay him 8 pounds per drawing and to let the artist enjoy her favours. The draughtsman accepts the deal and understands too late that it was used to serve a completely different purpose.
