Opening of the exhibitions “Les fleurs d’Yves Saint Laurent” and “Cactus”

The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech (mYSLm) is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of the exhibitions: “Les fleurs d’Yves Saint Laurent” and “Cactus” on March 2, 2024.

Exhibition “Les Fleurs d’Yves Saint Laurent”

The exhibition “Les Fleurs d’Yves Saint Laurent”, will coincide with the seventh anniversary―in October 2024―of the founding of the Yves Saint Laurent museums in Marrakech and Paris. For the first time, the two museums will prepare and mount a joint exhibition and catalogue project under the curatorship of Gaël Mamine and Olivier Saillard.

Olivier Saillard curated the exhibition Yves Saint Laurent: The Scandal Collection, 1971, seen at the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent, Paris in 2015. At the time, Gaël Mamine was head of collections at the Foundation. Together, they mounted their first joint exhibition, Yves Saint Laurent: Line and Expression, which was seen alongside the exhibition Cy Twombly: Morocco, 1952/1953. These two exhibitions, which were seen at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech in 2023, placed drawing at the heart of the work of the French couturier and American artist.

Exhibition “Cactus”
The exhibition Cactus, co-curated by Marc Jeanson, botanist at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, and Laurent Le Bon, President of the Pompidou Center in Paris. The exhibition will run from March 2 through July 7, 2024 in the mYSLm’s temporary exhibition gallery.

More than 1,700 species of cacti are known throughout the world; all of them, with one exception, are found in Central America and on the South American continent. The Jardin Majorelle has one of the largest collections of these plants on the African continent, with more than sixty species inventoried in its collections.
