Australian film cycle at mYSLm – Rabbit-Proof Fence

In 1931, in the town of Jigalong, near the Gibson Desert, three Aboriginal girls live happily with their mothers: Molly, aged fourteen, her cousin Gracie, ten years old, and her sister Daisy, eight. On the orders of Mr. Neville, Chief Protector of Aborigines in Western Australia, Constable Riggs tears the girls away from their families to transfer them to the Moore River Native Settlement, located at the other end of the continent.
At the settlement, the living conditions are grim. The children are crammed into huge dormitories, badly cared for and badly fed. Molly decides to flee with Gracie and Daisy, and the three begin a journey of more than 2,000 kilometers…
