On his deathbed in 1922, Marcel Proust looks at photos and looks back on the past. His life is his literary work, and as real-life characters mix with those of fiction, the latter gradually takes precedence over reality. His characters begin to haunt his small apartment on the Rue Hamelin and the happy days of his childhood alternate with more recent memories of his social and literary life.
