Fitzcarraldo, Werner Herzog, 1982
In the early 1900s, Fitzcarraldo, an opera enthusiast, dreams of building an opera house in Iquitos, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. To finance his project, he buys a rubber concession. He undertakes a long river journey, but the crew members, afraid of headhunters, begin deserting. Employing members of the Shuar tribe, Fitzcarraldo carries out his crazy idea of pulling his boat over a hill to reach another body of water.
