The Searchers, John Ford, 1956, 120’
This American Western by John Ford was inspired by a true event: the 1836 kidnapping of a little girl, Cynthia Ann Parker, in Texas. She became the wife of a Comanche chief and was found years later, then forcibly returned to the white community despite her protests. This event inspired the book by Alan Le May, which inspired John Ford.
